I went to the gym this morning….
Then I ate my breakfast…
“Pretty normal morning for you” you may think…
But then I had to go to work.
Work. I almost forgotten all about that little beauty. It’s been fourteen weeks since I last stepped foot in a ‘work place’, and boy am I feeling it tonight! I won’t lie, I have really enjoyed taking some time off during our move here to Abu Dhabi, but having something to actually do now is fab! It’s been nice to settle in slowly and get all of our personal stuff in check before having to worry about anything additional like jobs and such lark (because believe me, sometimes that’s enough on it’s own) but on the other hand, there have been a few cases of cabin fever and severe boredom when we’ve just been waiting for things to happen.
But now it’s official – Starting from today, I am employed as an Events Coordinator for Esc@pe Events in Abu Dhabi. How bloomin’ exciting!!!
Can you remember the last time you started a new job? There weren’t any nerves as such, just the feeling of wanting to make a good impression and hoping that I would get a good grasp of the events I
will be am responsible for. I made the classic day one mistake of being ready 45 minutes early and checking four times over that my bag was packed with everything I could possibly need for Day One (including a healthy lunch – because you’re never sure of the facilities in a new office) but of course I got there on time super early ready to get started.
After the initial HR meetings and the obligatory office tour (with a tonne of names I’ve unfortunately already forgotten) we sat down to look through the event files.
I haven’t needed to concentrate for a full working day for fourteen weeks, so I’m sure you can imagine the brain pain I left with at 6 o’clock this evening. I absorbed a lot of information and feel really confident about my role with Esc@pe – but my god do I feel like I need my bed!
I’m really excited to be part of this company and I’ve already got a couple of ideas, so I’ll keep you updated on how it all goes. I really want to ensure that even though I feel like I could sleep for a week right now, that I keep reminding myself that I will soon get back in the routine of having a full time job, 6 gym sessions a week and a blog to keep up with. I did it all before, and I’ll do it all again. Up and at ’em in the morning for BBG Week 5 – Arms & Abs.
