That Body (September)…

This month (as always) has been a weird one. I don’t seem to have been able to have one month yet where I have been good and consistent the whole month through. But that’s life I suppose isn’t it?!! There have been plenty of ups and downs, more tears than usual, but coming out of the end of the month pretty strong.


My mum and sister have been visiting for the last week and a half – and this has put a real strain on any kind of normality or structure – but I tried my hardest and I my efforts have been rewarded in my end of month measurements 🙂

Weights and Measurements

Unfortunately this month I haven’t been able to get an update on my body composition from the track, because we just didn’t have time to go down there this Tuesday and get it done… but of course I still managed to do my weights/measurements at home.

I wish I knew what my body fat percentage was – because I have been a bit weary since starting Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide. Just a little worried that the type of exercise I am doing now is going to get rid of muscle mass instead of fat. But I will just have to wait until I can get down the track again to see. I remember last months goal was 18% BF – so we’ll see if I’ve got any closer next week!

I am super duper happy with my weight and size loss though!! I’ve managed to lose 3lbs and a bunch of inches off of my body. It takes me back to Feb-April when I remember looking and feeling my best.

So, all in all, from day dot, this is what has changed: 

Weight – Say bye bye to TWELVE pounds

Belly Measurement (biggest part) – 4.5 inches smaller

Belly Button Measurement – 4.5 inches smaller

Waist Measurement (smallest part) – 3 inches smaller

Thigh (biggest part) – 2 inches smaller

That’s a total of 14 inches lost!

Aug-Sept (1) Nov-Sept

I can’t say that I see a huge difference in the photos, but I do feel much better this month when looking in the mirror every day. I have been pretty strict on myself since starting the new plan – but I have also been able to indulge at the right times (like when we went for brunch at the Ritz-Carlton – mmmmmm). Everyone does say to me ‘make sure you’ve got balance’ and I do believe this to be true – but I also believe that you need to give up things and make sacrifices to get where you want to go. So yeah, I might say no to a night out or a trip to our favourite restaurant every now and then, but at the end of the day I am looking at the bigger picture and trying to get myself to the stage where I am super happy.

The Plan Going Forward…

I have just started week 4 of the Bikini Body Guide from Kayla Itsines, and this is my last week of:

3 x circuit sessions

3 x LISS (Low Intensity Steady State) sessions

1 x stretch session

From week 5 to week 8, and coincidentally the end of the month again, the plan bumps up to:

3 x circuit sessions

5 x LISS sessions

1 x stretch session

Phewieeee! It’s going to be a toughie – but I feel pretty determined at the moment to smash this out! Seeing the progress from the last month really puts me in a good frame of mind to carry on with the plan and work hard. I know stuff like eating out and social occasions are difficult for me, but I just have to remember the bigger picture and realise that one night out will probably write off the best part of a week for me. My family will be gone and some kind of normality will set in where me and Matt can plan ahead with food and just have some simple time in our home together.
