Training Essentials…

The guys at Yas Marina Circuit asked me to put together a #YasOutfitGrid of my essentials for cycling/running around the open F1 track on Sundays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Yep, we’re pretty spoilt!

I popped it on Instagram, but I thought I’d throw it on here with a little more depth for you all to see too!

So, we’ll just work our way round shall we…?

Nike ID’s…

My lovely Matt bought me these Nike ID’s for my Birthday in April (read allllll about that incredible day here) and they have become a staple in my training. These ones in particular are my ‘Training’ shoes – so I used them most of the time in the gym. But it also gives me a perfect excuse to get a proper running pair *hint hint*

(note the cute ‘Tiffy’ on the tongues)

Shorts…

I’ve recently bought these Under Armour shorts from the store in Yas Mall, Abu Dhabi. Of course I got them in this beaut teal colour, but I bought a second pair in black too. #AllBlackEverything. This purchase was actually a pretty big deal for me, because I’ve never been confident enough wearing shorts to work out in – and I bloody well went and did it! With the warmer weather here in the UAE, shorts are definitely better for exercising outdoors!

Gloves…

Oldies but goodies – these are Lonsdale gloves bought at Sports Direct yearrrsss ago. I’m at the stage where I want some new funky gloves, but these ones have seen me through so well, I’m a little scared that others just won’t ‘fit’ right. I have my special cycling gloves with more padding too – for those longer rides.

Shaker Bottle…

Ever since day dot, I’ve had a shaker. But nothing compares to Smart Shake. The one pictured is actually Matt’s new one, because mine was in the shipment making it’s way to us in the UAE when this picture was taken. His is a big fat one, and mines a skinny (pink) version, perfect for my shakes. The technology inside means that you don’t need one of those noisy horrible silver balls rattling around, and the slim ones even fit in the bottle holders on bikes and cardio machines in the gym.

Water Bottle(s)…

Myself and Matt recently bought these Adidas water bottles to take to the track for cycling. They are bloody huge, and still fit in the bottle holders attached to the road bikes. They are also PBA free (a harmful chemical found in most plastic bottles) which makes me feel a little better about using them so often.

Earphones…

I swear I have funny shaped ears! I’ve never had a pair of earphones (until now) that stay in my ears while I’m sprinting or jumping around. Especially the standard earphones you get with mobile phones these days – absolutely useless. My lovely mother bought me these Yurbuds for Christmas 2014, and I’ve never looked back. I know how much they are too (and that’s not a lot) so it’s definitely worth picking up a pair.

The Hair Saviours…

Oh, the hair saviours..

As you all may know – my hair is a nightmare! And so more recently I have been trying to look after it the best I can, to try and keep it as healthy as possible in this dessert heat. Firstly, my Tangle Teezer – I’ve only purchased one of these recently, but it’s been a godsend. Matt laughs at me brushing my hair morning and night, but I’m pretty sure it’s helping keep it smooth and silky.

You’ll always find minimum 2 non-metal hair bobbles in my hair, but I’ve stopped tying it up too tightly (to stop breakages) and started using an Under Armour headband instead. My head/hair has always rejected headbands, but this one has stuck with me during sprints, HIIT circuits and every single exercise I’ve put it through. And finally…

…My Sebastian Professional ‘Drynamic’ Dry Shampoo. I can’t wash my hair every time I leave the gym – I’d be constantly in the shower! So I grabbed some of this amazing dry shampoo from Glamour Salon in Al Zeina. It doesn’t turn my hair grey, smells lovely and leaves my hair feeling stupidly refreshed (even after a sweaty cycling session).
