Last night, me and Matt decided that we wanted to go out for a beer. We really couldn’t be bothered to go far from were we are staying at the moment, so we popped down to the Belgian Beer Cafe, situated in the Radisson Blu on Yas Island.
We’d seen the place before loads of times – whilst we were here on our preview trip and in passing whilst staying on Yas Island for the past 7 weeks – but we hadn’t yet gone in. But we’re so glad we finally got round to going!
We decided just take a seat at the long wooden bar, and we quickly got given a menu each.
Now, we both love something a bit different, and so we really enjoyed looking over this menu for new things to drink each round.
What was really great was the service and knowledge of the bar staff serving these beers to us. After trying the Hoegaarden Rose for the first time and absolutely loving it – I asked the bar man to recommend a different beer. He assured me that I would love the Belle-Vue Kriek, and true to his word, I did! Remember those Cherry Drop sweets you used to have as a child? It tasted exactly like those (but an alcoholic version). PERFECT!!
At the end of the night, we decided to go with some beers with a bit of a kick. 11% ABV was definitely the way to go!
The atmosphere was great – there were different football matches on all of the TVs and good music playing in the background. I’d like to see what it’s like on the weekends when some proper football is on and the atmosphere is a bit more lively. I loved the authenticity of the place, with all the right glasses for all the right beers, old memorabilia on the walls and a real homely feel. I’d definitely recommend going there, especially if you like your beers.
Our bill came to 295 AED, including a cheeky apple crumble for Matt (a super proud moment for me – not ordering a dessert). That’s roughly £50.00.
The food menu looked amazing (and smelt amazing as dishes went passed) – so what we’d really love to do is go back there for a proper dinner and drinks next time around. I’ll look forward to reviewing that one 🙂
#TiffyTopTip – Definitely ask the barmen for recommendations on what to have next. If you like one beer, they’ll know another similar that you’ll love!
