That 33rd Food Diary…

For full foodie details, remember you can follow me on My Fitness Pal

Week 1 in Abu Dhabi has proven really good for us. I decided to use this time to be on a calorie deficit (aiming for around 1500 cals) and along with the strong levels of exercise that we have done, it’s proved to work.

I’ve had a SEVEN POUND weight loss this week, which has brought me back down to 9st 9lbs. I was just eating whatever I wanted in the last two weeks in the UK with all of the leaving meals and stuff, and it definitely showed by the time we got to Abu Dhabi last weekend. As I mentioned in previous posts – We were determined not to get into ‘holiday mode’ when we got here, so we decided to dive straight in to exercise and eating well from day 1.

The Staybridge Suites, where we are based at the moment, have a full breakfast buffet every morning – and it truly has been a test not to stack up on croissants & bread and cakes!! But with the hot breakfast available as well, I’d be silly not to go for that every single morning, and after a gym session, I’ve been welcoming it with open arms.

Dinner is also served on the week days (Sunday to Wednesday) with things such as fish curry, chilli & beef stew – and so we have been taking advantage of that. I have tried to make sure that I control my portions, as obviously I’m not totally sure what’s gone into each dish, and I have tried to log well on My Fitness Pal (see link above)

I also allowed myself a bit of a treat in the form of our first ever Iftar meal at The St Regis, Saadiyat Island. It’s the month of Ramadan, and so fasting takes place from sunrise to sunset. This also means that ALL food and drink outlets are closed everywhere!! The break of the fast comes at sunset, and after prayer everyone enjoys an Iftar meal. It was absolutely beautiful, and you’ll be able to see the full write-up later in the week.

So, at the end of this week…my breakdown was:

28% Protein / 42% Carbs / 30% Fats

I know the split isn’t quite right, but I’ve been really happy with the way we have managed our eating and nutrition this week, and I just want to carry on the way that we have been. I need to make sure that I don’t get complacent, keep controlling portions and only indulge once a week (saving that ALLLLLL for Iftar – so totally worth it!!)

Read all about Iftar in the next couple of the days on the blog, and thank you for following my journey into a new life in Abu Dhabi
