So, I’ve seen a bunch of pictures and recipes online for these yummy looking Banana Oat Bites. A simple, 5 ingredient recipe which takes about 5 minutes to make and 15 minutes in the oven. Simples! So, I thought I would give them a go and see what they were like.
2 x Banana’s
100g Porridge Oats
1 tsp Cinnamon
25g Dairy Free Choc Buttons (these can be substituted for currants/fruit/nuts etc)
A drop of Vanilla Essence
Heat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius
Mash up the bananas in a bowl
Add the oats, cinnamon & vanilla essence and mix all together.
Break up chocolate buttons, add them into the bowl and mix together once more.
Line a baking tray with grease-proof paper
Split the mixture into 8 and place in flattened balls on the tray
Bake in the oven for 15 minutes
16g Carbs / 2g Protein / 2.2g Fat
I am going to be trying this recipe again and again and making edits to see what I can do to make them taste even yummier. Even though my first attempt could have been a little sweeter, it was really yummy, a little bit like banana bread…yum!
I might add some vanilla protein powder to the next batch to turn them into a well-balanced snack, or add some nuts/seeds to give them a bit of crunch. So many different things that I can experiment with…! Give them a go – you’ll love them as a healthy alternative to flapjack and you won’t have to feel guilty about giving in to those cravings!! (Well, as long as you only have the one)
